    Testing procedure

    1. 01

      Mount the disc

Affix the sample sanding disc to the grinding disc.

    2. 02

      Secure the workpiece

Clamp the aluminium plate in the automatic polishing machine fixture.

    3. 03

      Run the grinding program

The machine follows the workpiece profile with reciprocating X/Y-axis motion at the recorded pressure and speed. Each grinding cycle lasts five minutes.

    4. 04

      Remove and clean

Remove the workpiece and abrasive after grinding and carry out the recorded cleaning procedure.

    5. 05

      Measure the results

Weigh the workpiece mass loss and dust retained on the abrasive, then measure workpiece surface roughness.

    Reading these results

Material removal measures workpiece mass loss. Retained dust measures abrasive loading. Ra, Rz and Rmax describe the resulting workpiece surface roughness, with lower values indicating a finer finish.

This SPX Abrasives test record presents laboratory data supplied by our manufacturing partner. Results apply to the tested disc and aluminium workpiece under the stated conditions; performance on other materials and equipment can vary. The report records measurements without a pass/fail assessment.
